All About Hunter Gatherer Diet

Hunter gatherer diet also known as paleo diet might be described as a nutrition plan based on plants and wild animals that our ancestors, many many years ago (in the Paleolithic age), were used to eat. A contemporary paleo diet or hunter gatherer diet consists of meat, fish, fruits, roots, nuts etc. exclusive of any kind of farm or processed foods.

The reason why many people like this diet plan is quite simple. People in the Paleolithic era were healthy with a strong physique. They were free of illnesses like diabetes, heart troubles, obesity, depression, arthritis etc. They didn’t have to wear glasses as their eyesight was strong. All of these diseases and over weight problem came as we moved to the current age. So, to overcome these problems, why don’t we get back to hunter gatherer diet.

Even the foods which we get from farms aren’t allowed in paleo diet such as grains, potatoes, sugar, dairy products, beans etc. The diet plan should include meat, fish, nuts, roots, berries etc. that hunter gatherers used to consume.

It will extensively change the vitamin consumption and decrease calorie intake. In case you would like to give it a try, you can start with having this diet as a breakfast. After that as you get into the hang of it, you’ll be able to have it in all three meals.

Mark Sisson, a former world class endurance sports person with a degree in environmental science has written a book about this named as primal blueprint. The primal blueprint diet is similar to the hunter gatherer diet. He also described in his book, some activities that are crucial to build a healthy and strong body like lifting heavy things, moving around slowly, lots of sleep etc. Things that hunter gatherers were used to do.
